5 out of 5 stars Anglo Bias, But Well Worth Watching    January 9, 2009
W. E. Muse (Seattle)
I have not seen every WWII documentary, but I have seen none better. The only reasonable way to tackle a subject of such scope is by making several mini movies, which they have done. Olivier's superb naration ties them together, and the footage chosen is first rate, with minimal but worthwhile survivor interviews. The Pacific war gets its due, as do other minor theaters.

The German & Japanese stories are told from the inside. The evil is not glossed over, but there is a humility that the tragedies were human failings, not ethnic ones.

Battles, politics, everyday life--horror and hindsight, it's all here.

The World at War (30th Anniversary Edition)

I have this series in VHS but don't have a player anymore, so I was surprised to find it on TvBoxset. I never expected to find the series on DVD. TvBoxset's price is the best around. I almost paid $30 or more for it in stores. This is an excellent, historical, series on World War II.

Gave these dvd's to a friend for Christmas. He loved them. He's a bit of a history buff...all eras, and said that some of the footage in these, blew him away:)

5 out of 5 stars Complete History of World War II    January 6, 2009
D. Stone (Michigan)
This set is a complete history of World War II from Europe to the Pacific. The video and commentary are spectacular! Time Life's t.v. advertisement offers 4 discs for nearly the same price as this complete set of 11 discs! TvBoxset provides a great buy.
