5 out of 5 stars Very well done!! Even better than the book!    December 2, 2008

I have read the Deerskins into Buckskins book by the same author and the book is very good but the DVD is 100 time better!! Matt goes through every step in the process showing you the right way to do it and how to correct mistakes. He also shows alternatives methods for the steps that allow it like using soap and oil or eggs as replacements for brains. He also shows all of the little things that are hard to describe in words like how the hide should look at the end of each step or how much pressure to use when stretching the hide. I can't wait to get out and try making buckskin again!

I have seen similar DVDs marketed to this audience that look like nothing more than home movies but this DVD is very well done. I noticed some skipping (brief halts) during the opening title but after that the DVD played fine. The audio and picture were very clear and Matt was always easy to understand. My wife is not into brain tainning but she watched the DVD with me and said it was like watching the Discovery Channel. I would call that pretty high praise.

I found the video very informative and helpful in learning how to make buckskins. It really shortened the learning curve by giving step by step instructions and tips on how things are done. I would recomend this material to anyone interested in learning this skill.
