A unique look into the world's largest slum

Laura Ruggiero's film goes into the heart of Rocinha, the largest slum in Rio De Janeiro, and shows how surfing is helping many of the youth stay positive about life in an area where drugs, poverty, and corrupt police make it difficult to stay alive, much less stay healthy and focused on a sport like surfing that's so often thought of as an upper class pass time. I really enjoyed it, especially the cinematography, but I wanted some more surfing footage. The film gives you a unique perspective on life inside the infamous favelas, not an easy task. I particularly liked how Laura tells the story through the people who live there without really imposing her own view. Beautiful cinematography, music, and characters all make it well worth the watch
