Milarepa is a beautiful film. A great lesson for people from any culture. I look forward to the sequel.

Although a wonderful film, I was very disappointed at the end of the film to be told Part II will be out later. The DVD tells only half the story.
Buyer beware, the story is in two parts and this first DVD is only half the story of Tibets Greatest Yogi Milarepa.
But well worth buying.
Story of revenge, yet somehow uplifting

Excellent film of the early life of the 11th century Tibetan mystic saint, Milarepa, according to Buddhist legend. As a child he enjoys the comforts of a well-off family, but when his father dies and leaves Milarepa's uncle in charge of the estate, Milarepa and his mother are reduced to poverty and loss of prestige while the uncle enjoys the wealth now in his possession. Milarepa's mother sends her son away to study with a teacher of occult arts so that Milarepa may come back and get revenge on those responsible for her family's downfall. The actor who plays Milarepa will look familiar to those who saw "The Cup," since he was the persistent young soccer fan of that film! This film was beautifully done, with gorgeous cinematography, and will be followed by the rest of Milarepa's life story in a sequel. I loved it. Highly recommended!
