4 out of 5 stars 1985 bears dvd    January 6, 2009

Great DVD package. Would have liked to have games 2-8-9-10 but can't be to picky. You get a lot here for your money. All Bears fans will be pleased with this. They could perhaps do another box set with the remaining games, super bowl shuffle,Chicago Bears complete history, and America;s game! I will definately buy a future release of these. FANTASTIC! slpoutdoorsman (Sean)

5 out of 5 stars Great collection for Bears fans    January 6, 2009

For over 20 years, the only souvenirs I had of the Bears 1985 season was a VHS tape of the Super Bowl and a SuperBowl XX jacket in my closet. I've been waiting for a DVD set like this for a long time.

There are some minor glitches from time to time due to the original storage media, and there are a couple of rough cuts between snaps where they cut off the sports announcers. However, I'm still very happy with the entire set of DVD's. They only have nine out of the sixteen regular season games (plus three playoff games) but they include most of the best games: the Minnesota come-back game, the 49ers game, the Redskins and Cowboys routs, and the Monday night Green Bay game featuring William Perry's TD.

It would be great if they did a deluxe edition that had commentary, extra features, interviews, but being able to see these games again in their entirety is more than worth the price. I bought the set because I missed the Minnesota and Miami games that season, because I wanted a permanent copy of SuperBowl XX, and because I wanted another look at the 46 defense now that 20 years has passed.

It's a great set - I've been recommending it to all of my friends.

Awesome... simply awesome. I purchased this a few days ago and just received it today. I watched the first game and was blown away by the quality... very good transformation from the original broadcast to DVD... GOOD JOB! Very watchable, very entertaining - DEFINITELY A GREAT BUY! OH, AND ALSO FOR THIS PRICE (33.99 SALE)!

5 out of 5 stars "We're just here to do The Super Bowl Shuffle!"    November 15, 2008

It's unlikely there will ever be another team like the 1985 Chicago Bears, who were unquestionably one of the greatest teams in NFL history. Their defense was as good a defense as you'll ever see. They also had a very capable offense, led by the eccentric Jim McMahon.

Almost all of these games are excellent quality in both video and audio. There are some exceptions. One of them being the Dallas game which appears to have been someone's VHS recording of the game. It was taken from a feed in Wheeling, WV as the pop-up screen graphic during the game will tell you. Also, the regular season finale against Detroit starts off with an awful picture, but it does improve from the second quarter on. Finally, towards the end of the Super Bowl the color gets darker and the post-game interviews are mostly terrible video.

Something I noticed watching these games was the amount of late hits, a lot of which weren't called. That would never happen today.

One more unrelated thing, before one of the games which was a Monday Night game Frank Gifford congratulates O.J. Simpson and his wife Nicole on the birth of their daughter Sydney. I certainly found that eerie.

Overall, this is without question a recommended purchase for Bears fans and NFL fans.

4 out of 5 stars A good product that could be improved    April 18, 2008

The video quality of the games varies. Some games are outstanding in quality (both Tampa Bay games, Green Bay, Washington, Minnesota) but some of the games are disappointing in quality. The Detroit game is especially bad. All of the games are out there and probably should have been included. Some of the editing is questionable and cutting off the introductions for the regular season games is unnecessary.
