5 out of 5 stars Classic    December 27, 2008

If you like Jane Austin or period romance pieces you will love this movie. I do! It is difficult to find though. No digital enhancements or green screen filming, simply good acting with a good story line.

I really loved this movie! It is a great classic tale with classic humor. It is fabulous! Probably my all time favorite movie. Definitely a great family film.

5 out of 5 stars Great movie    November 20, 2008

This is a great movie. I watched probably 30 times as a kid and had lots of lines by Sir Percival Blakeney memorized. "Sink me! Your tailors have betrayed you!"

5 out of 5 stars The best Pimpernel    November 11, 2008

I think this Anthony Andrews/Jane Seymour version is superior even to the Leslie Howard Merle Oberon version. In addition to Anthony Andrews skill in his various disguises, he also shows an athleticism that is lacking in the Leslie Howard version. The plot of the Jane Seymour/Anthony Andrews version is more complex than the Leslie Howard version with the addition of King Louis son.

It has to be one of the most entertaining period movies around.

We love this story, and have seen the old movie and the new musical version. This is our favorite movie version. The lead does a great job - playing the fool, and the hero! We recommend it for families - decent, exciting, suspenseful, romantic, and educational, - all while being so entertaining!
