Great for Grandma! March 8, 2010 Rene Dugar If there's someone in your life who thinks 'Band of Brothers' was the original mini-series, pick up this 6-disc set. My mother has wanted this for years, and finally, the price was right.
Everyone who was popular in the early 80's is in this epic.
Not really history-- but close. March 6, 2010 Douglas A. Rexin (Oregon) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent scenic footage and a story line that starts strong, but dwindles into a clueless conclusion. I recommend the first six hours for any student living in Colorado and the first two hours for all students in the United States of America. The ending disappointed me by seriously promoting cattle as "good for the environment". These people cannot get their facts straight. IF we want to preserve our environment, then reduce the second-hand, flatulence/methane producing cow protein source. Get your 'earth friendly' nutrition from earth-not from dead animals.
Back to the movie: Many historical tidbits can be gleaned from the flick; the names have been changed to protect the innocent and guilty. Plan a weekend because you will want to see the next episode.
Could be better February 23, 2010 Edward F. Dreslinski (St. Helen, Michigan) Have been waiting for this to come out on video since it was originally on TV. Very excited to order it. Don't know if it is the player I am using in the rented condo or if it is the disks, but it is very difficult to index and play in sequence. The quality isn't as great as it could be either
Centennial revisited February 13, 2010 GeorgeGK Recalling Centennial as the first ever Mini Series I have ever watched, back in the 80's, it was a pleasant if not overwhelming trip down memory lane. Certainly not as impactive as the memories suggested it might be, I am nonetheless happy to have had the opportunity to once again view the Series, even though I had to learn a forgotten lesson about the various 'ZONES' that exist throughout our Global Community involving DVD's etc.
Depending on where you live in the World, be sure to know what Region(ZONE) your DVD's are compatible with as you may not be able to play all DVD's purchased from Global Retailers. Few DVD Players are able to play DVD's from all regions and I had to rely on my Apple Computer to be able to view the DVD, although the region can only be changed on ther Apple up to a certain number of times.
This purchase is a birthday gift February 13, 2010 Bernadette A. Lambert Centennial DVD is a birthday gift for my father. Had seen this when it first came on TV. Can't wait to see it again on DVD.
