moonlight series August 30, 2010 Judie Ammon (Salyer, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Moonlight the television series.
Alex O'Loughlin, O My God what a mesmerizing
guy. In the beginning I really wasn't to impressed with Beth (Sophia Myles) but by episode three she had me hooked.
Alex O'Loughlin is funny, sexy, compassionate and extremely tortured ,by the event that made him a person of the night,
all in one larger than life VAMPIRE. Sophia is beautiful, witty, and just right for the part.
Jason Dohring was cast perfect. Sophisticated with just the right amount of evil and loyality to make the audience love
him. I know many who have watched multiple viewings and still are mesmerized each time. The cast is perfect.
They were ahead of their time, if they had aired this show a year later when the whole younger generation became Vampire
followers the show would still be on the network.
I really am amazed that there are so many poor quality shows still on the air and this one was discontinued.
Our household for one, would love to see this program resurrected. We give it five stars, if that's the highest.
Beautiful little Pocket Gem August 17, 2010 TastyBabySyndrome ("Daddy Dagon's Daycare" - Proud Sponsor of the Little Tendril Baseball Team, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Mick St. John has a little problem - he's a vampire and he hates it. He spends his days trying to help humans out by being a private eye - apparently setting your own hours is really helpful when it comes to being undead. Mick has friends, foes, and some people that would be hard to place in a corner but, in the end, it is a tabloid reporter that catches his eye. During a "vampire kiler" story this newbie reporter is writing, Mick notices her and he remembers something that ahppened years ago - something that altered his life forever.
When you talk about series that were great for TV and that you hated to see cancelled, this is one of those for me. Sure, Mick had some cases that were not beautiful and, sure, he wasn't really good at being a vampire. He had a lot of weakness in him because he didn't like the idea of drinking the living and, as a result, he spent a lot of his episodes against a wall while picking splinter sout of his skin. Still, mick was nobody's punk and he took it and he deals it out just the same and that is likeable.
What was also likeable was the way the rules were changed to vampires. The coffin trick was not the metho a lot of vamps liked, the drinking of blood was optional, and the sunlight was not the damnation of vampires. Myths didn't do much for the victim of an attack and, more pressingly, there was this little lovely thing called "sense memory" that th vamps loved to use. with it, the vamp could get a picture of an event that happened in an area - again, making him a get P.i.
Lastly, there was the love affair and the twists to it. I watch it to see if he would get with the new girl or an old flame that appears, making things really interesting. Honestly, it had a little bit of everything.
Everything except the power to stop the cables from coming out of the backer's pockets.
Don't know why Moonlight was cancelled. August 13, 2010 Richard A. Cuccia (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nice entertaining show. It was one of the very, very few TV shows that I watch (24, Burn Notice, Human Target, Covert Affairs). I don't know why Moonlight was canceled.
Deserved More Than a Single Season August 11, 2010 William Bickley (Colton, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm not into the current vampire craze, but I loved this slick sophisticated series. Each episode was well written and the actors did an admirable job. CBS screwed the pooch when they cancelled this show after a single season. Mick is a vampire with a heart of gold who was turned by his bride back in the 50's. He's now a private eye working with a beautiful reporter whom he protected from his wife when she was a child. There is a strong love connection between the two and they make an excellent team. Forget the fact that Mick is a vampire, because at its heart this is a whodunit. As I said earlier it is well written and fun to watch. Sophia Myles is worth the price of admission by herself.
MOONLIGHT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF August 10, 2010 Patricia Matheny (Verona, VA, US) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently ran across this show on the CW network and fell in love with Alex O'Loughlin. This series is like a drug to me. Since purchasing from Amazon I have watched it everyday for 4 weeks now. I can't watch anything else not even my daily soap opera. I don't know why it was yanked from CBS several years ago. I bet if they brought this show back on it would be a mega hit like The Vampire Diaries. I would love to let CBS know what a mistake they have made in removing this show from television. The advertisers would have made lots of money running during this show. I know that I'm not alone in my love for this show and Alex. Bring Moonlight back, please...
