 Review of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition April 22, 2010

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," has quickly become one of ABC's top rated programs since its premiere broadcast in 2004. Hosted by Ty Pennington, this weekly hour long broadcast features a family who has faced some hardship and in need of a new, remodeled home. The shows usually begin with the background of the featured family and the crew of the show surprising the family at their door to announce the plans of a new home built just for them, to meet their specific family. Normally, the family is sent away on vacation for a week, while the "Extreme Makeover" crew collaborates with local construction contractors to totally revamp the home in a magical week long transformation.
The moral basis for this family friendly show has most likely been the greatest precipitous for this weekly broadcast to become the nationwide hit that it has. Viewers young and old feel apart of the transformation as contractors donate materials, time, and energy to give back to this needy family. Deep satisfaction is found in all humanity when they are able to give to others, especially when the recipient can not give back in return. Viewers of this show can enjoy this delight of others giving to the needy, without it actually costing them at all, and at the end of the episode the viewer most likely feels like he, himself, has given and blessed others, without even leaving the recliner.
From a Christian's perspective this show is good and right. We should be reaching out into our communities and giving to others, just as those on the show are doing. We, as viewers, however, must be careful to be sure that we don't just enjoy others goodwill, but actually make giving a regular part of our daily lives. When we do seek to show Christ's love to others through our actions, we must be sure to tell the why behind what we are doing--that of sharing the saving message of Salvation through Christ and following in His loving example, not merely to gain attention or a "pat on the back" from others for our good deeds.

ABC wake up and smell the coffee. They created a blockbuster and yet they still haven't released any more seasons. What are they waiting for? The second coming or what. The networks, all of them, are screaming for business, and yet ABC could make millions off of Extreme Home Makeover DVDs. I guess they are as poor as they say they are. That must be it. Can't think of any other reason.

I love this show - wow - to be able to help people in this way would be an absolutely amazing experience. I live in Australia and don't get to see the show very often and was so excited to be able to buy this DVD - I wish all the other seasons and the ones missing on this DVD would be made available. Without a doubt at the end of each episode I'm sitting there in tears along with everyone else on the show. Amazing people doing amazing things for people who really deserve it. God bless you all!

I woul like to see the rest coming out on DVDS as I only get to see it when it is on UKTY STYLE I purchased this for my mother as she loves the show.
