5 out of 5 stars gotta have "my story"!!!    September 12, 2007

There's something for everyone on this show. Very engaging and entertaining. While we never watched it when it was new, we got hooked on it in syndication. Now we can't get enough. The characters are interesting and very humanly flawed. It's the story of two generations: the younger characters, skidding and crashing along through their teen years, and the adults, whose decisions and mistakes as teens are still affecting the relationships of their offspring. One of the most realistic aspects is the fact that EVERYBODY has something to be ashamed of, and even the most heinous (Dan) has some tiny shred of goodness. Just as in real life, there are shades of gray.

The acting is consistently decent, even when the dialogue is occasionally so preachy and stilted that you cringe for the poor actors. The physical resemblance of the male leads (Dan and Nathan, Keith and Lucas) is striking, and the ladies will remind you of people you've known.

Even though some of the plot lines are a bit uncomfortable to view with a young teen, they did get us to talk about peer pressure, teen sex and pregnancy, poor judgment and its consequences, in relation to the characters. Far better than the usual parental drone-lecture. Well worth the money - and we can't wait for the next season!
